Vuarnet is an eyewear brand based in France. The brand was developed from the invention of the Skilynx lens in 1957 by French opticians Roger Pouilloux and Joseph Hatchiguian. The sunglasses were originally provided to the French Ski Team.
After alpine ski racer Jean Vuarnet, of France won the gold medal at the 1960 WINTER OLYMPICS, an agreement was reached in 1961 to market the sunglasses using his last name as the brand name.
Vuarnet has been producing the best mineral sunglasses since 1957 with exceptional expertise.
Vuarnet is the only brand to produce its mineral lenses in its own factory in Meaux, on the aptly named rue des Frères Lumière in France. Quality is ensured by artisan small-scale production. One week is required to craft a Vuarnet lens.
